It’s January 1st, 2015! Happy New Year! It’s that time of the year when humanity humbly takes a look at its current state and reflects on what sacrifices they can make to improve their life.
Many of us set goals for ourselves, from eating healthier to losing weight, to exercising more to learning a new skill. But what I love about this time of year is the increase of humility. Think about it… God is patiently waiting for us to admit we need Him, His help, His guidance.
The best example we have in humility (besides Christ of course) is Mary, whose feast day we celebrate today. She dedicated her life to God in a way I hope we all strive towards. I want us to keep that in mind during this time of year and ask Our Mother to help steer our lives and our resolutions towards God.
I, personally, have been thinking and praying about my ‘resolutions’ for this year. I want to eat better (cliché much?) and provide healthier options for my family, including family exercising (I’m talking family walks, bike rides, and wrestling matches, ya’all!). I will be posting different blogs I follow for recipes, creative ideas, and inspiration.
I also, slowly but surely, want to replace harmful chemicals in my house (found in cleaning products, most shampoos, deodorants, etc) with homemade versions using essential oils. I will be posting my progress of these recipes too! Feel free to ask me about getting started with these AWESOME, life changing bottles of God’s goodness!
I also want to spend more quality time with my family by limiting my internet usage each day. Not sure on the specifics yet. Maybe an hour a day? Is that even possible? 😉
Basically, I want to get back to the basics.
Tall order, huh? Now this blog is titled, “Confessions of a Mary Wannabe,” meaning that I don’t expect to succeed in these lofty goals without failure. I fully anticipate relying on Christ and his grace to sustain me and to transform my life to a more sacrificial, patient, and intentional journey towards him.
So today, the day we celebrate Mary, the Mother of God (and to all of us), let’s all try and be Mary Wannabes this year!
Follow my blog and keep me accountable! I will try and update weekly on my goals’ progress!
